Despre blog / About this blog

P1130086

*********************************************************************************************************************************

The Netherlands, country of tulips, bicycles, wooden clogs, canals, green meadows populated by cows who give the milk for the wonderful Gouda (pronounced of course hhhhhhrrrrrrrauda) cheese, (soft) drugs and homosexuals…

Seen from abroad, from Romania, and without having more informations, it seems a special country, maybe even wacky.

I’ve come to live here 8 years ago and slowly I discover more and more faces of the country and the Dutch.

I’ve decided to share with you the things that draw my attention, amuse me or on the contrary.

I’m glad to read your comments, so leave as many as you can.

All my posts are written in Romanian, I try to translate as many as I can also into English, but I can’t keep up, so some will only have a Romanian version… you can ask me to translate a post which you see in Romanian and think it might be interesting for you.

I also have a blog about our Dutch garden, the posts on it are more pics and less text, ideal for a short break: gradinol.wordpress.com.

Thank you for following me. Wow, it’s interesting, seeing Romanian written down I can pick out many words similar to Italian… I guess you share the same Latin roots. Can Romanians and Italians understand each other when they speak their own languages, like Spanish and Italians can? I look forward to reading your English posts, tales of ex-pat life, cultural difference and adjustment are always fascinating to me. Ciao ciao!

Ciao 🙂 thank you for your reaction. I read some of your stories about the olive grove and loved them, the whole idea of what you are doing sounds so good! I envy you, you are living in a beautiful region with much better weather than over here.
I used to watch Italian tv when I was little and could understand most of it, I don’t know if Italians could understand Romanian the same way. Romanian is a Latin language, that’s right.
Good luck with the olive trees and I hope you are living your dream and loving it there.

    http://danarozmarin.com/povestile-altora/
